Our story
From component supplier to full-service provider. Today, we deliver smart refrigeration solutions for supermarkets, industry, and beyond.
Founding of TEKO Gesellschaft für Kältetechnik mbH
Established by Edgar Kirschniok and Kurt Kohr in Frankfurt am Main. The original focus was on trading technical components – which also inspired the name TEKO.
Start of collaboration with Wurm Elektronische Systeme
The foundation of a close partnership that continues to this day. Combining refrigeration technology with intelligent control quickly proved to be a winning formula.
Entry into refrigeration system manufacturing
Building on core components, complete systems were produced for the first time – a major step toward becoming a full solution provider.
Relocation to Altenstadt (Hesse)
With production capacity in Frankfurt fully tapped, Altenstadt became the new home for continuous expansion. Every five years, the production area doubled in size.
First systems using natural refrigerants
TEKO developed its first solutions using propane and indirect cooling – long before natural refrigerants became established in the market.
Integration into the Reiss/KKVB Group
TEKO became part of the Reiss/KKVB Group – a strategic alliance of two strong partners. The integration opened up new opportunities in sales, production, and market access.
CO₂ becomes the technology of the future
With its first in-house CO₂ pilot system for food retail, TEKO set a strong precedent. Today, around 100% of our systems run on the natural refrigerant CO₂ – clear proof of consistent technological progress and true sustainability in action.
Internationalization & new markets
TEKO expands into global markets with successful projects across Europe, Asia, and South America – including Thailand and Colombia.
Partnership with Frigopol
TEKO acquires a majority stake in Austrian refrigeration specialist Frigopol. Together, they combine their strengths in system engineering – a strategic partnership that creates synergies and strengthens the KKVB Group across Europe.
Expansion through Vitalis (Canada)
The KKVB Group acquires Canadian CO₂ specialist Vitalis. This move strengthens TEKO’s expertise in CO₂ chillers and heat pumps while opening direct access to the North American market.
Leading in CO₂ technology & system integration
With ROXSTA (CO₂ rack systems), COOLSHIFT (CO₂ chillers & heat pumps), and integrated control concepts, TEKO is a pioneer in natural, future-proof refrigeration technology – made in Germany and trusted worldwide.
