Remscheid, June 29, 2024 – Wurm, a leading provider of automation technology for refrigeration systems and buildings, has once again been recognized as one of Germany’s innovation leaders in the SME sector, receiving the TOP 100 seal for the fourth time. At the German SME Summit on June 28, 2024, in Weimar—organized by compamedia—Data Scientist Alina Stephan from Wurm’s software development team and Joachim Gahlmann, team leader in CAD at Wurm Schaltanlagenbau (SAB), accepted the TOP 100 trophy from mentor Ranga Yogeshwar.

Now in its 31st year, the TOP 100 innovation competition subjects numerous participants to a detailed and systematic selection process led by an independent scientific jury under the direction of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Frank, founder and board member of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

In size category C (more than 200 employees), Wurm particularly impressed with its innovation management, which the jury rated with the top grade A+. The company was praised for “outstandingly professional innovation management that sets international benchmarks.” Wurm ranked among the Top 10 in the categories “Innovation-friendly Top Management” and “Innovative Processes” in this year’s competition.

Comparing the award with those received in 2014, 2018, and 2020, the jury highlighted Wurm’s above-average improvement since its last participation in 2020, particularly in the category “Innovation-friendly Management.” In the category “External Orientation/Open Innovation,” Wurm achieved an A+ rating for its systematic and consistently managed external collaboration.

Wurm Managing Director Gianluca di Lieto sees the renewed TOP 100 award as confirmation of the company’s ongoing innovation strategy:
“Creative thinking is embraced across our entire group and actively encouraged and rewarded by management—whether in software and product development or on our production floor, where many investments in automation equipment stem directly from employee suggestions. The continuous integration of digital technologies is also a core part of our innovation strategy and is met with openness, commitment, and creativity by the entire team. The 2024 trophy therefore belongs to our entire workforce, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks for their ongoing dedication.”
